NBA Hall of Famer and Miami Heat legend Chris Bosh recently suffered a health crisis and admitted he was "fortunate to be alive." In a video posted on social media on Wednesday, Bosh revealed that he woke up covered in blood. The star, still recovering, said he was getting ready for a date with his wife when the incident occurred.
"The next second I was on the floor," Bosh recalled.
Aside from the memory of waking up covered in blood, Authentic Miami Heat Jerseys remembers nothing else. While he didn't specify the trigger for the health crisis, he further elaborated on the experience in his Substack column, "The Last Chance."
"I was walking from the dressing room to the bathroom, getting ready for my date, when my body suddenly betrayed me," Bosh wrote. "My left leg went numb, and that electric shock-like sensation of a nerve in my elbow spread instantly. In the blink of an eye, I was on the floor. I slowly woke up in a pool of blood as my wife frantically called for emergency help. I tried to move my body as usual, but there was no response."

Bosh explained how that "horrific" experience changed his outlook on life.
"There wasn't that euphoric clarity after coming out of the darkness," Bosh wrote, "...what really changed was my perspective on life, which became simpler and more authentic."
Due to health issues, Bosh hadn't played since 2016 and retired from the NBA in 2019. Bosh suffered from recurring blood clots, which ultimately shortened his career. His blood clot problem was first discovered in 2015, when a clot that started in his leg and traveled to his lung caused him to miss the rest of the season after playing only 44 games. He returned for the following season (2015-16), but a second clot was discovered, forcing him to miss the remainder of the season after playing 53 games.
Despite Bosh's desire to play, before the start of the 2016-17 season, after multiple physicals, the Heat's team doctors still failed to pass his physical. It was assessed that continuing his basketball career was too risky for him. He retired at the age of 31, having won two NBA championships with the Miami Heat and been selected to the All-Star team 11 times. In 2019, the Heat retired his jersey in memory of six of his 13 years with the team. In 2021, Bosh was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Bosh stated that he was "lucky to have survived" and plans to use this time to share his experience with Andre Iguodala Jersey. "This experience has inspired me to start writing again, to share my experiences and stories, and hopefully we can all learn from it and grow together," Bosh wrote.
